My Story

To see people from every nation empowered, discipled, and equipped to live out their God‑given purpose, impacting their communities, cities, and the world with the love of Christ.

To know God and make Him known by mobilizing believers, sharing the gospel, discipling nations, and serving communities through acts of mercy, compassion, and love.

I’m Nelly Sierra, a missionary with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Vancouver, a mother of two, and a woman passionate about seeing lives transformed by the love of God. As the eldest daughter of pastors, I grew up in a Christian home where I learned to love, trust, and depend on God through my parents’ example of faith. My journey has included both beautiful moments and deep challenges. After walking through a difficult season of depression following a divorce, I encountered God in a profoundly personal way. In that place of brokenness, He restored my heart, healed my life, and revealed His purpose for me. That encounter awakened a calling that continues to guide me today: to know God and make Him known.

Before stepping into full‑time missions, I studied Business Administration and owned my own restaurant in Mexico. But in 2010, God redirected my path when I completed a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM. From that moment, my heart has been set on serving the nations for the rest of my life. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of sharing the gospel and teaching in Sweden, the Middle East, Finland, Spain, Mexico, England, and Fiji. I speak three languages, which has allowed me to translate, connect, and minister to people from diverse cultures.

In 2024, God led me to Vancouver, Canada, where I continue to develop His purpose for my life through evangelism, discipleship, and community outreach. My current ministry focuses on Member Care and program facilitation at YWAM Discipleship Schools, supporting students in their spiritual, emotional, and personal growth. I also serve in local missions, leading evangelism activities, prayer initiatives, and partnering with churches to reach international communities.I love meeting new people, travelling, cooking, reading, and building friendships. But my greatest passion is evangelizing—praying with people, sharing my testimony, and showing God’s love through acts of mercy. These moments recharge my heart and remind me why I serve.

I consider myself an active, visionary, and compassionate person always ready to help, always ready to go, and always willing to follow wherever God sends me. My desire is simple and lifelong: To know God and make Him known wherever He leads.
